Several members of the group have sent me information about their sightings.

From Judy:

I don't seem to get so many goldfinches now but am getting greenfinches regularly which is good as they were quite uncommon a few years ago.  I saw a kingfisher from the bridge near Restormel Manor.  I was on a walk and had stood looking at the river for about 15 mins when a flash of blue shot up the river - wonderful sight.  I also swallows, ventured out to Pridmouth by car for a walk and they were flying over the fields.

From Jasmina:

We have a house martin nest with a camera in our eaves which has been inhabited annually for some 8 years now. This year she has laid four eggs which we have not seen above 3 before now so very exciting. She is currently sitting on them and they are due to hatch on Jasmina's birthday.

From Carol:

I saw a little egret today down at Forder near Saltash, but it had a plume on it's head.I did some research and discovered that egrets have plumes in the summer and not in the winter.

From Alan and Marion

Whenever we go for a local walk along the river we hope to see a kingfisher, but not so far. However last week over Lanhydrock we saw a red kite. We visited Hannafore yesterday and saw several species including oyster catchers, little egret (yellow feet), heron, gulls wrens, stonechats and a few lbjs (little brown jobs). We also had a very quick visit by a bullfinch into our garden.

Enjoy you birdwatching and send me any sightings.
