The group met at the tourist information centre in town and walked the canal path to the weir where we had lunch before walking back. Some of us went on to Maer lake and visited the new hide recently completed jointly by CBWPS and CWT. It was a dull day and the rain largely held off. In total we saw 48 birds.
Jackdaw, Crow, Black headed Gull, Magpie, Herring Gull, Mute Swan, Mallard, Pied Wagtail, Canada Goose, Stonechat, Feral Pigeon, Blue tit, Mandarin Duck, Marsh Harrier, Moorhen, Starling, Wood Pigeon, Goldfinch, Reed Bunting, Teal, Robin, Lapwing, Blackbird, Jay, Kingfisher, Cormorant, Fieldfare, Redwing, Rook, Buzzard, Mistle Thrush, Coal Tit, Bullfinch, Greenfinch, Barnacle Goose, Long tail tit, Chiffchaff, Wren, Pheasant, , Goldcrest, Dunnock, Great tit, Chaffinch, Grey Heron and then at Maer lake we added Golden Plover, Great Black back Gull, Shelduck, Wigeon, Shoveler and Mediterranean Gull.

Tamar Boat trip 7th February 26 2.30pm
A trip out of Plymouth specifically for birdwatching with a guide and spotters. The weather was cold and wet unfortunately for a time and the hot pasty and drink were very welcome. We encountered 38 species.
Cormorant, Black tailed Godwit, Herring Gull, Common Gull, Wood Pigeon, Great Black backed Gull, Little Grebe, Oyster Catchers, Turnstones, Magpie, Red necked Grebe, Curlew, Mute Swan, Great Crested Grebes, Brent Geese, Dunlin, Wigeon, Crow, Shelduck, Little Egret, Avocet, Redshank, Grey Heron, Great Northern Diver, Spoonbill, Mallard, Cattle Egret, Black headed Gull, Lesser black backed gull, Canada Geese, Raven, Black necked Grebe and Feral Pigeon.
Walmsley 11th February 26 at 10 am
The group met at Trewornan Manor and made our way over two very sodden fields to the Tower hide. Excellent viewing of 37 species over a couple of hours. Afterwards a small group of us went on to Treraven by the rugby pitch in Wadebridge where we picked up a further 7 species including the rare winter visiting Russian White fronted Goose. The following are the species we found:
