u3a Lostwithiel Birdwatching Calendar Sept 2024 - August 2025

The calendar below is the proposed calendar for our next season of  field trips. Though primarily we began as a bird watching group we have in reality evolved into taking an interest in all wildlife we come across from mammals, insects and butterflies to plants and fungi.

You do not need to be an expert, all are welcome and if you enjoy photography do bring your camera.

This calendar can be subject to change depending on weather and local conditions. Always check the web site beforehand and emails for details, usually a couple of weeks prior to event. If unsure please email one of the group contacts.

Hi all,

In September 13 of us visited St Andrews Pool, Par beach and Spit beach all sites around Par nr St Austell. It stayed dry and we managed just over 40 species of birds, only 3 varieties of butterflies and a range of interesting plants. Some of the notable  finds were the Eider duck and this year's juvenile, Ringed Plover and Barnacle Goose.

On October 9th we return to a favourite Old Town Cove near Padstow.  Please check the trip sheet details.

Do look out for my more detailed field trip reports to get a more detailed idea of what we see which I hope to bring up to date very soon as the weather keeps us more indoors.
