WELCOME TO LOSTWITHIEL AREA U3A
We are a U3A Group located in South East Cornwall drawing our members mostly from Lostwithiel and the surrounding areas of Lerryn, Lanlivery, East and West Taphouse, Bodmin and Fowey.
U3A stands for the University of the Third Age, which is a self-help organisation for people who are retired, semi-retired or no longer in full time employment providing educational, creative and leisure opportunities in a friendly environment.
U3As are charities in their own right and are run entirely by volunteers. Local U3As are learning cooperatives who draw upon the knowledge, experience and skills of their own members to organise and provide interest groups in accordance with the wishes of the membership.

Ambassadors needed for visit of "The Man Engine" to Lostwithiel
The largest mechanical puppet ever to be built in Britain: a colossal metal Cornish Miner, part man, part machine standing at over 10m tall (two-and-a-half double-deckers!) will come through Lostwithiel on the evening of Wednesday 27th July 2016.
The actual appearance of the behemoth will be kept a closely-guarded secret until the unveiling on Monday July 25th when he will embark on his epic journey from Tavistock to Geevor Tin Mine, celebrating history, sharing knowledge and wowing the crowds.
The organisers of the event are looking for "ambassadors" who can provide infomation about the occasion and also possess local knowledge about Lostwithiel. A half day training session will be provided before the event.
If you would like to be involved then please contact Adrian Barrett on 01208 873912 or pop into his shop, Deja Vu Antiques, at 31 Fore Street, Lostwithiel. More infomation about the Man Engine in this article.
