TITLE OF EVENT : Birdwatching at Trevose Head

LOCATION: Trevose Head. The outing is a walk around Trevose Head following the coastal footpath. We will walk down to Booby’s Bay via some scrubland and then bear right towards the lighthouse at Trevose head. We will then follow the coastal path along Mother Ivey’s Bay. From here it is a short walk back to the cars. However, weather and legs permitting we can follow on round Cateclews point to the beginning of Harlyn Bay from where we can return back to the cars through Harlyn Sands campsite.

 CAR PARKING: There is free parking just to the left as you pass the entrance to Mother Ivey’s Holiday Park on your right.

TIME OF START AND FINISH: 10am – approx. 2pm

MEETING POINT: PL28 8SL Parking outside Mother Ivey’s campsite entrance.

MAIN POINTS OF INTEREST  : Choughs have been sited on the headland this winter. Many other birds inhabit the various habitats found around the headland such as Fulmars, Peregrine and Corn Buntings. The area is part of an AONB and recently became a National Trust site.

REFRESHMENTS  : Bring a packed lunch and drinks as required

TOILETS : None available

EQUIPMENT(suggested) Binoculars, etc. Waterproof shoes/wellies

TITLE OF EVENT . Cargreen and Landulph (near Saltash). Overlooking River Tamar

LOCATION  Tamar estuary and CWT site we will walk or drive to key viewing points.

CAR PARKING 

Cargreen PL12 6PF

In Cargreen turn right onto Penyoke lane, there is a red phone box now used as a library on the corner.. Follow the road down to the playing field and playground. There is a car park for a few cars. Follow the path to the edge of estuary, there are several benches.

Landulph PL12 6NG

Park your car either off road by church or in church carpark. Follow the road towards a cottage, turn left and follow the road until you see the Cornwall Wildlife sign on the right. Follow the path. We could only follow the path for a couple of 100 yds as it as so muddy and we didn’t have our wellies

TIME OF START AND FINISH Meet at Cargreen playground at 10.00a.m

No exact finish time as you can stay as long as you want

MEETING POINT Cargreen playground carpark

MAIN POINTS OF INTEREST  : On a recent visit Alan and Marion saw Avocets, egrets, redshanks, shelducks, gulls and cormorants.

REFRESHMENTS  : None available. Bring your own lunch and drinks etc.

TOILETS : None available

LOCATION  Fields near Roughtor, we will walk or drive to key viewing points.

CAR PARKING  Car park at at Roughtor PL32 9QJ

TIME OF START AND FINISH Start time3.45p.m

No exact finish time as you can stay as long as you want

MEETING POINT In car park

MAIN POINTS OF INTEREST  : Murmuration of starlings…..plus the buzzards

REFRESHMENTS  : None available...but it is usually quite windy and cold so suggest you bring warm drink

EQUIPMENT(suggested) Binoculars, monoculars and torch. We have spare binoculars.
