Tuesday 21st January 

  • The first meeting of 2025 had the theme of New Year, New Song , and we heard selections from The Quik, Idles, Amyl and the Sniffers, English Teacher, Rob Reed, Fisherman's Friends, Amy Rigby, The Beatles, Frazey Ford, Primus, The National, Art of Noise, David Gilmour and Cindy Lee;  Robin Trower provided the track for our Tenuous feature. 

Tuesday 18th February

  • This meeting had the theme of Under the Influence and we heard a great selection of tracks from Andy Fairweather Low,  Eagles, Squeeze, James Arthur, Shamen, John Mayall, Kris Kristofferson, Elle King, Uncle Lucius, Rod Stewart, Tears for Fears, Ed Sheeran, The Velvet Underground, Neil Young, War on Drugs, Johnny Cash and Chuck Berry with Eric Clapton and Keith Richards.  The Tenuous track was Cream with Badge.

Tuesday 18th March

  • The theme for this session was Waxing Lyrical and we had some great tracks from Spandau Ballet, Georgie Fame, Glen Campbell, Emmylou Harris, Rod Stewart, The Blues Brothers, Brian Eno, Joe Cocker, Joan Armatrading, Mark Knopfler, Taylor Swift, Roxy Music, Bob Dylan and The Pogues.  Our Tenuous track was Robert Johnson with Cross Road Blues. 

Tuesday 15th April

  • This was a Free Choice session, and we had songs from Anita O'Day, Bruce Springsteen, The Lottery Winners, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Jellyfish, Adriano Celentano, Richie Havens, Thelonious Monk, Caravan, Leon Russell, Fleetwood Mac, K T Tunstall, Sons of the East, David Bowie and Marianne Faithfull and Audioslave.  The Tenuous track was Don't Sleep in the Subway by Petula Clark.  

Tuesday 20th May

  • The theme for this session was Sad Songs and we had a wide range of tracks - some sadder than others - from PJ Harvey , The Animals, John Martyn, Angeline Morrison, The Righteous Brothers, Gary Moore, Taylor Swift, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush, Neth Hart and Joe Bonnamassa, Emmylou Harris, Placebo ft David Bowie, Paul McCartney and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.  Our Tenuous track was Give Peace a Chance by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band. 

Tuesday 17th June 

  • After some Sad Songs in May, the group cheered themselves up with some Happy Songs for their June meeting with tracks from The Beatles, Allan Sherman, The Grateful Dead, Nina Simone, REM, Pharrell Willliams, Kool & The Gang, Jethro Tull, Billy Joel,The Staple Singers, Blind Melon, Katrina and the Waves and Ivor Cutler with I’m Happy!  The Tenuous track was Marlene Dietrich with a 1963 performance of Pete Seeger’s Where Have All The Flowers Gone?  

Tuesday 15th July 

  • The theme for this session was Slow, Slow, Quick, Quick, Slow, where we had a mix of fast and slow songs….for the Fast section we had tracks from The Rolling Stones (Star, Star), The Undertones (Here Comes the Summer), AC/DC (Thunderstruck), Judas Priest (Exciter), Love Sculpture (Sabre Dance) and Earl Scruggs (Foggy Mountain Breakdown).  And for the Slow Section we had The Rolling Stones (Winter) Joe Jackson (A Slow Song), James Taylor (Sweet Baby James), Etta James (At Last), Led Zeppelin (You Shook Me) and Lana Del Ray (Henry Come On).  The Tenuous track was the Bacharach/David song Message to Martha, performed by Adam Faith. 

Tuesday 16th September 

  • This was a Free Choice session which, as usual, elicited a very wide ranging selection of tracks!  In the first half we had tracks from George Thorogood and The Destroyers, Soft Cell, Black Sabbath, Lord Huron, Alien Ant Farm, The Dixie Chicks, Lil' Red & The Rooster and Duster Bennett, while in the second half we heard from The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Grace Jones, SPK, The Who, Badly Drawn Boy, The Dixie Chicks, Allan Taylor and Jeff Beck.  The Tenuous track was Pinball Wizard by Elton John and The Who. 

Tuesday 21st October 

  • The theme for this session was : Greatest Misses - or tracks which sank without a trace or should have been singles.  The group once again came up with some wide-ranging (and surprising) choices , including tracks from Utopia, Fleetwood Mac, The Only Ones, Ultravox, Jack Johnson, Dire Straits, Jack Bruce & Rory Gallagher, Mort Garson, Emmylou Harris, Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, Eric Clapton & JJ Cale, America, The Who and Public Enemy.  The Tenuous track was Angry from the Rolling Stones and we also witnessed a drum battle between Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa!  

Tuesday 18th November 

  • The theme for this session is Film Music
