Our meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month between 1000-1200

Tuesday 16th January 2024

  • This was a Free Choice session and we had a good mix of music from the last fifty years or so, including Screaming Lord Sutch and the Savages, Tool, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, The Fall, Weyes Blood, Pekka Pohjola, The Strawbs, Fairport Convention, Miike Snow, The Nightingales, Bernard Allison and the Blues Rebels and The Bo Street Runners. 

Tuesday 20th February 2024

  • This theme for this session was Covers - and tracks we "covered" included Jimi Hendrix (Bob Dylan), Pat Boone (Deep Purple), Seal and Matthews Southern Comfort (Joni Mitchell), The Bee Gees (The Beatles) Sinéad O'Connor (Bob Marley) and White Stripes (Dolly Parton) 

Tuesday 19th March 2024

  • This was a  Free Choice session so we had a very diverse range of tracks from NEU!, Kraftwerk, Vinegar Joe, Chris Stapleton and The KLF to Gentle Giant, Nirvana, Georgie Fame, Wishbone Ash, Pink Floyd, Hummingbird, Mick Jagger and Dino Baptiste.  Plus we had our first Tenuous track which featured Les Paul and Mary Ford with How High The Moon

Tuesday 16th April 2024

  • The theme for this meeting was Punk and New Wave and we listened to a great selection of music from Iggy Pop, Dr Feelgood, Ramones and Patti Smith to Joe Jackson, Wreckless Eric, The Undertones and Ultravox. The Tenuous 2 track was Another One Bites The Dust by Queen and the tenuous link was that both Brian May from Queen and Les Paul (from Tenuous 1) both made their own guitars! 

Tuesday 21st May 2024

  • The theme for this packed session was groups (and duos) who break up and we listened to a wide range of music from Led Zeppelin, Free, Dire Straits and Talking Heads to The Civil Wars, Talking Heads, Traffic, E.L.O., and 4 Non Blondes.  The third instalment in our Tenuous feature was Extreme with Rest in Peace - the link with Queen (from Tenuous 2) being that they were both produced by Reinhold Mack and Extreme played a medley of Queen hits at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley in 1992.  

Tuesday 18th June 2024

  • The theme for this session was "Rediscoveries" and we heard tracks from Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs, Oysterband, Phil Collins, Cozy Powell, Janet Kay, Fairport Convention, Thunder, Jimmy Smith, Happy Mondays, Jack Bruce with Gary Moore and Gary Husband, Junior Walker and the All Stars and the Steve Miller Band. The fourth Tenous track was Joe Walsh and Vince Gill with Rocky Mountain Way. 

Tuesday 16th July 2024

  • This was a Free Choice session and our (very) eclectic playlist included tracks from Laura Marling, The Moody Blues, Seasick Steve, Santana, Pablo Cruise, Sia, Plan B, Mike Bloomfield, Def Leppard, Roxy Music, Peter Gabriels and The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band.  The fifth track in our Tenuous feature was Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters

Tuesday 20th August 2024

  • The theme for this meeting was Songs with Memorable First Lines and we listened to tracks from Fleetwood Mac, Queen, The Buggies, Steve Miller Band, The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, The Damned, PJ Harvey, The Bee Gees, Eminem, Dire Straits, Simon & Garfunkel, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Janis Joplin, The Human League and Taylor Swift.  And the sixth track in our Tenuous feature was Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins

Tuesday 17th September 2024

  • The theme for this meeting was Singer/Songwriters and we listened and discussed tracks by Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, John Martyn, John Lennon, Joan Armatrading, Carole King, Chris de Burgh, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, Weyes Blood, Beth Orton, Stevie Wonder and Kate Bush.  The group has now notched up twenty meetings and listened to over 300 tracks!  The seventh track in our Tenuous feature was We Can Be Together by Jefferson Airplane. 

Tuesday 22nd October 2024 

  • The theme for this meeting was Time Machine, looking at artists when they were starting out - and how their careers progressed.  We listened to a wide range of music from Van Morrison, Steve Marriott, Eric Clapton, Joe Jackson, Peter Frampton, Taylor Swift, Paul Simon and The Who.  Our Tenuous track was Black Muddy Water River from the Grateful Dead. 

Tuesday 19th November 2024

  • The theme for this session was "Music that means something to me - and why" - we had lots of interesting stories and backgrounds to the track choices at this session!  Artists included Steve Miller Band, Bob Dylan, MC5, Carole King, Queen, Dave Gilmour, ELO, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Kate Bush, Iggy Pop, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, Joy Division, The Proclaimers, Yes and Arthur Askey with the Bee Song.  Plus our Tenuous track was Muddy Water Blues from Paul Rodgers.

  • This will be a free choice session - with maybe some Christmas tracks thrown in!
