2026 MEETINGS

Tuesday 20th January 1000-1230

Our meeting on January 20th was a Free Choice session and, as usual, we were all inspired individually to mine a rich seam of music both old and new! For the first half we heard tracks from Amy Winehouse, Procol Harum, The Last Dinner Party, Melody Gardot, Chris Rea, Grace Jones, and The Cramps. And in the second part we also heard from a similarly diverse list of acts, including Patti Smith, Pink Floyd, Joe Jackson, Charlie Cunningham, Dido, The Nice, David Byrne and Beth Hart and Joe Bonnamassa.
In our Homage Montage feature we paid tribute to Perry Bamonte (The Cure), Rob Reiner (This is Spinal Tap), Bob Weir (The Grateful Dead), Jimmy Cliff, Joe Ely and Tetsu Yamauchi (Free/Faces).

Tuesday 17th February 1000-1230

The theme for this meeting was (appropriately) Weather and the forecast was A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall, followed by a Hurricane and then calming down with a nice Summer Breeze. Overall the outlook was Four Seasons in One Day with some Stormy Weather while waiting at the Bus Stop where it was Still Raining, Still Dreaming. Things then mellowed a little with some Misty Blue but then it whipped up Like A Hurricane before clearing and we were able to Soak Up The Sun - but Why Does It Always Rain On Me? Still There Ain’t No Sunshine although we had some Little Fluffy Clouds – and I Think It’s Going to Rain Today. The long term forecast is, however, bright!!
