Unfortunately this trip had to be cancelled in December due to poor weather , however a good number decided to bear the damp cloudy January day and were rewarded with 45 species - great start to the new year. The group however had managed to meet in December and shared a Christmas lunch at Flory's in Bodmin - something we hope to continue in future years.

                                                                  Gull & Redshank

The Camel estuary at this time of year hosts a whole variety of winter waders such as Lapwing, Oyster catchers, Curlew, Dunlin, Golden Plover, Redshank, Greenshank, Teal and Wigeon as well as many regulars such as Canada geese, Little Egrets, Shelduck, Mallard and Mute swans and the Wadebridge Mandarin Duck. The trail also has many smaller birds on its shores in the scrub such as the range of tits, finches, wood pigeons, Wagtails and Blackbird. The finds of the day was a Grey Plover amongst the Golden plover, a Peregrine and Sparrowhawk.
